Every year the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Mobile (HBAMM) proudly presents The Parade of Homes. A highly anticipated event, home enthusiasts ranging from inspiration seekers to those ready to build come from near and far to tour carefully chosen homes that boast the latest and greatest in all things home. Comprised of members that are dedicated housing professionals, and therefore a true voice in the industry, the HBAMM chose Robert and Katie Collins of Superior Construction & Restoration Services to create the 2023 Showcase Home.

With 27 years of commercial and residential construction experience, Robert and Katie Collins were awarded the honor of building the Showcase Home for the 2023 Parade of Homes. Currently serving as the organization’s Secretary of the Board of Directors, Robert holds the organization in the highest regard and recommends membership to all builders and vendors looking to grow personally, to strengthen their companies, and to give skilled tradesmen opportunities to perfect their crafts on projects. Additionally, he shares, “Membership provides solid business connections and promotes working with peers from all generations to accomplish more together than they can individually.”
A true family business, Robert and his wife, Katie, own and operate Superior Construction & Restoration Services. Known for their quality custom home builds, renovations, restorations, and roofing projects, their favorite saying is, “If you can dream it, we can make it happen from design to project completion.” While Robert manages all aspects of each build, Katie manages the office and is a whip with design services. “I love the kitchens and bathrooms, they are the jewelry of a home!” she shares.
With a keen understanding of what today’s home buyers are looking for, Robert and Katie plugged in everything they’ve learned to create this stunning home full of the bells and whistles we all crave. “Today’s buyers are really drawn to custom work, which excites us because our homes are custom throughout. We guide our customers in finalizing their plans and selecting their materials then build their homes with skilled local talent. In this Showcase Home, everything from the closets and cabinets to the trim and transom windows were hand built,” Robert tells us.
As for the highlights, Katie adds, “The flow is designed for effortless indoor and outdoor entertaining for friends and family. Accessing the spacious covered patio and kitchen through an exterior wall of glass doors is a breeze, and a large window over the kitchen sink makes keeping tabs on the guests and children very natural. The outdoor stone fireplace and kitchen add such warmth, and the four-zone surround audio system fills the atmosphere with music. From the tall ceilings to the large open kitchen as well as the deluxe soaking tub and custom closets, this home combines class with comfort. Interestingly, today’s buyers have many options with flooring, and carpet is back! Many customers are wanting soft floors again, so we decided that the white oak flooring in the living areas of this home should meet with luxurious Karastan carpeting in the bedrooms. A low pile covering, the results are beautiful!”
Boasting 4 spacious bedrooms and 3 bathrooms on one level, this brick home with stone façade and gorgeous custom mahogany front doors sits in a safe and quiet cul-de-sac in West Mobile. When asked about her favorite aspects, Katie shares, “I love the chef’s kitchen and how it ties in with the living room and the outdoor spaces. We tried to anticipate everything the homeowner would want but to also leave room for their decor.” For Robert, it’s all about the custom aspects of this home and fulfilling dreams. “We built this home with great materials and plans for a family to enjoy for years to come.” The Showcase Home is currently listed for sale by Doug Adams of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.
Robert and Katie credit the HBAMM members and staff for supporting their work and our community at large. Each year, the HBAMM requests donations to the Child Advocacy Center as admission to the Parade of Homes. The $2,054.52 in patron donations received this year was matched by the HBAMM for a total donation of $4,109.04 that will provide a range of local services for abused children and their non-offending family members.
