Having always dreamed of owning their own furniture store one day, their dream became a reality one serendipitous day in early 2018. While shopping for furniture for his law firm, Adams and Reese LLP, Andy stuck his head in Tony Atchison’s office and mentioned that he and his husband, Jack, would be interested in buying the business should the Atchisons ever desire to retire. And the rest they say is history. “They were already doing what we wanted to do,” recalls Andy. “We knew we could never compete with the quality and look of Atchison Home. So we decided to buy it.” Embracing the legacy of Atchison Home, Jack and Andy committed themselves to maintain the store’s reputation for sophistication and elegance.

With their dedication to exceptional service and design, it was only natural for Atchison Home to expand its presence. Last October, the Fairhope showroom opened its doors at 561 Fairhope Ave in the Portoco Building. The expansion allowed them to serve customers and clients living on the eastern shore, offering the same sophisticated products and services but with a smaller footprint. “We’ve loved having the store in Fairhope,” says Andy. Jack adds, “The community has been so welcoming and supportive of our endeavors and Atchison Home couldn’t feel more at home there.”

At both the Mobile and Fairhope showrooms, visitors can expect a continuous flow of fresh ideas and inspirations. Atchison Home takes pride in avoiding stagnation while maintaining a commitment to quality products that stand the test of time. Echoing the sentiment, Jack adds, “I believe that having the right people working with you on a project is much better than working alone.  In design, it is so important to have the right collaboration and people who share your visions.  Jennifer is great with color and pulling together fabrics and trims that all work harmonious.  Ramsey, our newest designer, is always bringing fresh idea to the table. It is incredibly rare to find such talented people to work with and we have so much fun creating beautiful spaces together.”
