As the 150th Leading Lady of the Athelstan Club’s Domino Double Rush Ball, Lady Jayne Isabelle Ladas steps into the season with a rich heritage and an excitement fit for someone who has been dreaming of this day since she was a little girl. Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Lady Jayne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stavros Louis Ladas, continues a legacy deeply rooted in the traditions of carnival celebrations.

Lady Jayne’s own Mardi Gras story began in 2015 when she served as a Lady in the MCA Juvenile Court. Following in her footsteps, her brothers, Elias Stavros Ladas and Harry Constantine Stavros Ladas, proudly served as Knights on the MCA Court in 2020 and 2022. The Carnival spirit runs in the family, with cousins Sterling Ladas Rivers and Alexandra Joanna Rivers also previously serving in the MCA Court in 2013 and 2015.

Having graduated from UMS-Wright Preparatory School, where she attended for 14 years, in 2020, Lady Jayne has developed a deep appreciation for the memories she made during her adolescent and teenage years here in the Bay Area. “Mobile was the perfect place to grow up in. UMS was the best times of my life, and I hope my kids are able to attend UMS one day, too,” she reflects. Now, Lady Jayne is currently a senior at The University of Alabama where she studies Biology. A dedicated student, she earned prestigious scholarships, including the Presidential Scholarship, Alumni Scholar Award, and Alumni Heritage Scholarship. Lady Jayne is a member of various honor societies and has actively engaged in campus life, contributing to the UA Student Government Association and UA Pre-Pharmacy Society. Beyond academics, Lady Jayne’s commitment to service is evident through her volunteer work with the Girl Scouts of America and the West Alabama Food Bank. Additionally, she is a proud member of Kappa Delta sorority.

Lady Jayne has a deep love for travel and even spent some of her college summers studying abroad in London at The London School of Economics and Political Science and in Greece where she studied Integrated Language. Looking towards the future, Lady Jayne is set to attend The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy to earn her Pharm.D. Post-graduation in 2028, she aspires to move to London to work in the global pharmaceutical industry, focusing on drug development, design, analysis, and research.

In her free time, Lady Jayne indulges in her passions for traveling, film photography, running, and cooking. Having explored over 35 countries, she cherishes memories of summer vacations in the South of France and Greece with her family and winter escapes to St. Barths. French Polynesia and the Great Wall of China top her travel bucket list.

Love Letter to Mobile:

“I can’t thank the city of Mobile enough for being the perfect place to grow up. While I’m eager to see where life takes me, I feel comforted by the history and traditions of the city I’m so proud to call home. I can’t wait to celebrate this city we all love this Mardi Gras season!”

Known for her classical yet edgy style, Lady Jayne draws inspiration from fashion icons like Jane Birkin, Princess Diana, and Zendaya. “When I started shopping for my Mardi Gras wardrobe, I was determined to express my own personal style,” she tells us. “I looked for pieces I truly loved and felt represented me.” Keeping this in mind, Lady Jayne collaborated with stylist Holly Walton to curate a stunning Mardi Gras wardrobe, including a show-stopping OOM outfit featuring a custom-made dress from Isabel Sanchis in Spain, Chanel gloves, Manolo Blahnik shoes, a fox fur wrap, and a 20’s-inspired headpiece.

Lady Jayne’s coronation ensemble includes her mother’s vintage diamond Cartier earrings and necklace, adding a touch of family history to the celebration. Renowned designer Homer McClure crafted her exquisite train, complementing the embellishments by Cristal Hall.

As Lady Jayne Isabelle Ladas steps into the limelight as the 150th Leading Lady for the Athelstan Club, she carries with her the legacy of a family deeply intertwined with Mardi Gras traditions and a personal journey enriched by education, service, and a love for adventure. “I can’t wait to see where life takes me, and it is all thanks to my roots,” she concludes.
