A household name amongst the who’s who, local artist Amber Ivey Bostwick is taking her brand from the walls of those oh-so coveted homes to new heights as a lifestyle brand. From the brush-stroke to the breast-stroke, she’s proud to present her new swim wear line and shares, “This line brings an artistic flair to chic, classic designs for women of all ages and sizes. Each piece is extremely versatile and customizable.”
As for her inspiration? “The world is a beautiful, creative place and there’s no reason why art should be confined to our walls. That’s what drove me to create Apparel by Amber Ivey and Amber Ivey for the Home,” she tells us.
Knowing swimwear is challenging, we dive in. “Living close to the water and as a woman approaching middle-age, finding solutions for real women is behind every design decision I make. Naturally, we carry trend-driven suits for the young-set, but we absolutely offer styles and sizes for most body types and ages. I was also adamant about creating coordinating coverups so women can feel confident at the pool or walking into a crowded Pirates Cove. The premise is to create flattering and wearable suits with interchangeable straps, cover-ups and accessories,” she explains.
What perhaps caught our eye is the Southern look to her designs. Mothers of teenage girls will appreciate the sweet details and appropriate cuts while the young ladies will flock to the modern aspects. Working with a set of tried and true black and white suits, weaving her art into the collection is a process. “I narrow down my seasonal patterns and then work with our seamstress on cuts and styles. Refining every step of the production process results in high-quality pieces we’re proud of,” she shares.
As for the mix and match strap and cover-up components Amber states, “We chose bold patterns so clients not only get a swimsuit they can style in over 5 ways, they can also interchange the patterns to look elegant, playful or casual. We also make our straps in both chiffon and Lycra for more support.”
Regarding functionality, she adds, “We have multiple coverup options for every swimsuit! The most versatile is our sarong scarf that can be worn as a skirt, dress and as a classic scarf. We also have a 4-in-1 smocked dress with straps that can be worn as a halter or baby doll style or removed to create a strapless dress or skirt. Our tennis skirts offer great waist down coverage.”
Met with rave reviews, Amber couldn’t be happier. “We’re so excited to launch our new website later this summer!
